We worked in partnership with the Hawaii Nature Center to remove Mangrove out of the marsh. Remember, invasive doesn’t necessarily mean bad, it just means that it doesn’t belong here. This great day of chopping and sawing directly benefits their elementary educational program. Find out more at their website.

HIHO will be attending the Kokua Kalihi Valley’s Ho’oulu ‘Aina community work day this Saturday February 20, 2010.  We will be there from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.  We will be volunteering our time working in the community gardens and with the native Hawaiian reforestation project.  Snacks will be provided to all HIHO volunteers.  If you are interested in attending please email us at volunteer@hiho.org.  Hopefully we will see you there.  Mahalo.
